P. Drolet et M. Girard, THE USE OF MAGNESIUM-SULFATE DURING PHEOC HROMOCYTOMA SURGERY - A STUDY OF 2 CASES, Canadian journal of anaesthesia, 40(6), 1993, pp. 521-525
Maintenance of haemodynamic stability during anaesthesia for phaeochro
mocytoma resection is still a challenge. If magnesium sulfate is widel
y used for the control of arterial pressure during preeclampsia, its u
se during phaechromocytoma resection has only been published by one au
thor We describe two cases where magnesium sulfate is the main agent u
sed to control arterial pressure during resection of a phaeochromocyto
ma Magnesium sulfate's hypotensive, antiarrhythmic and antiadrenergic
properties are reviewed. The total doses administered were 11 g and 12
g, given as an infusion and boluses. Magnesium sulfate could be part
of the anaesthetist's pharmacopoeia during phaeochromocytoma resection
