Abstract
Three cases are reported in which open reduction and internal fixation were required to stabilize an unstable first carpometacarpal joint wi th simultaneous fracture of the trapezium and Bennett's fracture. The results were good in terms of range of movement and radiological appea rance, all of them returning to normal activities, including heavy man ual work.
