Abstract
Periodic orbits and zeta functions are used to compute the rate of esc ape from Julia sets and their Hausdorff dimension for the one paramete r family of complex analytic maps z --> z2 + c. The results are compar ed with the perturbative expansions of Widom et al. [J. Stat. Phys. 32 , 443 (1983)].
