Abstract
Three patterns of burst generation and chaos mechanism have been prese nted in the Rose-Hindmarsh model for different parameter regions. In t he present paper, we describe the fourth burst pattern exhibited in th e model for I less-than-or-equal-to 2.3, and obtain the bifurcation po rtrait for this model over parameter space. The portrait gives a quali tative explanation of burst generation and chaotic mechanism, and prov ides a qualitative representation how the system evolves over the para meter space.
