Abstract
PURPOSE: To report a previously undescribed cause of bilateral macular hole formation. METHOD: Case report. RESULTS: Septic emboli were note d at the center of the macula in both eyes of a 32-year-old man with a cute bacterial endocarditis. Bilateral full-thickness macular holes la ter developed at the site of these retinal lesions. CONCLUSION: This c ase represents the first report of fundus lesions in septicemia result ing in full thickness macular hole formation.
