Abstract
The thesis that the cost-effective conversion of Hawaii's biomass sour ces to electricity can be best accomplished by a central power plant i s developed and empirically tested using a multiperiod linear programm ing model. The results also suggest that it is cheaper to produce elec tric power from a biomass-fueled plant than from a fuel oil-based faci lity.
