A 12-year-old girl with ulcerative colitis (UC) treated by colectomy w
ith rectal stump preservation, salazopyrin, and systemic steroids deve
loped persistent mouth ulcers, cutaneous targetlike lesions, papulopus
tules, and bullae. The clinical, histologic, and immunopathologic feat
ures were typical of chronic bullous disease of childhood (CBDC). Alth
ough resistant to combined immunosuppressive therapy with low-dose pre
dnisolone, cyclosporin, and thalidomide, striking remission of the muc
ocutaneous symptoms resulted with surgical resection of the diseased r
