Abstract
Gymnostellatospora japonica Udagawa, Uchiyama et Kamiya, a new genus a nd species of the Myxotrichaceae, is described and illustrated, having been isolated from forest and grassland soils in the Tokyo megalopoli s, Japan. The fungus is considered to be distinct from other gymnoasca ceous genera by the ascospores with three prominent longitudinal crest s.
