Vw. Ho et al., TARSAL TUNNEL-SYNDROME CAUSED BY STRAIN OF AN ANOMALOUS MUSCLE - AN MRI-SPECIFIC DIAGNOSIS, Journal of computer assisted tomography, 17(5), 1993, pp. 822-823
Tarsal tunnel syndrome (TTS) is a compression neuropathy of the poster
ior tibial nerve in the ankle, commonly caused by a mass lesion such a
s ganglion, tumor, fracture, or post-traumatic fibrosis. Although anom
alous muscle is relatively common in the ankle, there has been only on
e report to date implicating it in TTS. This case demonstrates MR find
ings of a strained flexor digitorum accessorius longus muscle as an un
usual cause of TTS.
