Dn. Petsev et al., DIFFUSION AND LIGHT-SCATTERING IN DISPERSIONS OF CHARGED-PARTICLES WITH THIN ELECTRICAL DOUBLE-LAYERS, Chemical physics, 175(2-3), 1993, pp. 265-270
The perturbation approach of Barker and Henderson is applied to obtain
analytical formulae for the collective diffusion coefficient, short-t
ime self-diffusion coefficient, sedimentation velocity, static and dyn
amic structure factors at low particle concentration. All these quanti
ties are expressed as explicit functions of the system parameters (par
ticle size and charge, electrolyte concentration, Hamaker constant, et
c.) and can be easily calculated if the latter are known. By using lig
ht scattering experiments information on the particle charge (or poten
tial) and Hamaker constant can be obtained.
