A new finite element layered model used for beam-column elements in co
ncrete frame structures is developed. Using an automatic incremental/i
teration process, the model can account for both geometric and materia
l nonlinearity in concrete frame structures. The model is compared wit
h independent experimental results, and a stable and reliable predicti
on is obtained. The finite element method forms a basis for the effici
ent analysis of large reinforced concrete frames.
