Abstract
Trimethylaluminium or trimethylgallium reacts with 1,3-diisopropyl-4,5 -dimethylimidazol-2-ylidene 1 to afford the first organo-group 13 meta l carbenes 2 (M = Al 2a, Ga 2b), which are characterized by elemental analyses, IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
