Preservation of Calotropis procera (Ait.) R.Br. latex was studied in t
erms of changes in pH, colour and the extent of coagulation on using v
arious preservatives. In addition, a comparison of synthetic and natur
al coagulating agents was made for coagulation of C. procera latex for
biocrude production. Natural coagulant (bark extract) was found to be
better than synthetic coagulants. A quick light-scattering technique
was developed to study the extent of coagulation and the yield of bioc
rude.
