Nanophase iron carbides can be obtained by high energy milling (mechan
osynthesis). The hydrogenation of CO2 catalyzed by mechanosynthesized
iron carbides (at different milling stages) is studied from the point
of view of activity, selectivity and stability during the reaction. Th
e catalytic properties are attractive and competitive with those of ot
her catalytic materials. The catalytic behaviour is shown to be stable
during testing for 24 h. Structural characterization of the catalysts
after the reaction is also reported.
