Wjl. Genuit et J. Deboer, APPLICATIONS OF DUAL-BEAM THERMOSPRAY LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY MASS-SPECTROMETRY, Journal of chromatography, 647(1), 1993, pp. 73-78
A dual-beam thermospray system has been constructed, by which the requ
irements of the electrolyte ion evaporation process have been decouple
d from those of the separation and volatilization of the analytes. The
dual-beam system has a high flexibility with regard to mobile phase p
olarity, flow-rate and eluent vaporizer temperature. Results are prese
nted from applications of dual-beam thermospray in the coupling of org
anic gel permeation chromatography with mass spectrometry, and in grad
ient elution liquid chromatography. In a comparison of the dual-beam w
ith the single-beam thermospray technique for two thermolabile compoun
ds, the mass spectra obtained with the dual-beam system show much less
degradation.
