A review of ARMAX modelling and the approximations of the differential
equations of motion are given in previous publications. Here ARMAX mo
delling based on integral equations in structural dynamics using direc
t numerical integration equations is investigated The result is an ARM
AX representation for a pre-given accuracy for numerical purposes. Var
ious integration methods lead to various ARMAX models. Taking into acc
ount the resulting estimation errors several ARMAX representations are
also compared. It is shown that the inverse problem, the determinatio
n of physical parameters from the AR and MA coefficients leads to a un
ique solution.
