Abstract
This article presents and compares the basic analytical expressions cu rrently used to evaluate the probe impedance in coaxial-fed microstrip patches. These expressions belong essentially to two different famili es, namely the quasi-static models and the ''two-infinite-parallel-pla tes'' models. Particular attention is paid to the theoretical foundati ons of every model. The qualities of each family are ascertained by co mparing their predictions to experimental results and to rigorous nume rical results obtained using a full-wave numerical model.
