Abstract
The values of the reduced multipole mixing parameters delta(E2/M1)/E(g amma) in 1-forbidden MI transitions are analyzed. It is shown that the se parameters take values that are minimal in absolute magnitude when shells or subshells close in nuclei. Moreover, it follows from an anal ysis of the forbiddenness factors F(MI) that the number Z = 15, like N = 15, is magic.
