INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS ON STATISTICAL CLIMATOLOGY

A series of international meetings on statistical climatology (IMSC) i s described briefly. These meetings, which are now organized under the aegis of an international steering committee, have been held about ev ery three years since 1979. Special attention is focused here on the m ost recent meeting in the series, the Fifth International Meeting on S tatistical Climatology (Toronto, Canada, June 1992), and on outstandin g achievement awards presented by the IMSC steering committee on the o ccasion of 5IMSC to three eminent researchers in the area of statistic al meteorology and climatology. Future plans of the IMSC steering comm ittee are outlined.
