SIMULATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF UNITED-STATES QAM-BASED HDTV CHANNELDECODER

This paper presents system design considerations and simulation result s of a receiver prototype for QAM-based digital HDTV systems in the co ntext of current standard deliberations for terrestrial broadcasting. Our efforts were concentrated on design choices of the receiver subsys tems for adaptive equalization, carrier and symbol timing recovery. Sy stem performance evaluation results are presented that highlight the e ffect of the above and some hardware design examples are also included .
