Abstract
Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) has shown little polymorphism in isozyme and Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) studies which may be an indication of limited genetic variation. Mutagenesis and inters pecific hybridization will increase the variation and can be useful fo r plant breeding purposes. Work conducted at ICRISAT Center in these f ields is reported and reviewed.
