Abstract
A new ligand, cinnamaldehyde ferrocenecarbonylhydrazone, FeCONHN==CHCH =CHPh(HL) (Fc=eta5C5H5FeC5H4) and its chelates with lanthanides, Ln(HL )3Cl3 . 0-4 H2O (Ln = Y and lanthanides) have been synthesized by the reaction of HL with LnCl3 and characterized by elemental analysis IR, PMR, electrolytic conductivities, TG and DSC measurements. In these ch elates the ligand coordinates to lanthanide ion in the keto form and t he coordination numbers of the central ions are all equal to 8.
