M. Nanda et Sk. Sanyal, SIMULTANEOUS TRANSPORT OF AQUEOUS SOLUTES IN 4 SOILS OF WEST-BENGAL, Journal of the Indian Chemical Society, 74(3), 1997, pp. 183-186
Coupled osmotic transport processes involving passage of aqueous CuSO4
, KH2PO4 and NH4Cl in four soils of contrasting properties have been s
tudied. The resulting reflection coefficient, mechanical filtration ca
pacity and solute permeability for various transport systems have been
related generally to the contents of clay and presence or absence of
micaceous illitic minerals in the clay fractions of the soils. The rel
evant hydrodynamic frictional coefficients have been used to describe
the decoupling of solute and solvent during the given osmotic flows, l
eading to salt accumulation down the soil profile.
