Lv. Berezov et al., INTRACRYSTALLINE SWELLING OF BENTONITE IN ALCOHOLS AND IN ALCOHOL-SOLUTIONS IN AN ESTER, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 55(1), 1993, pp. 12-14
X-ray diffraction and calorimetric methods have been applied to study
the intracrystalline swelling of organophilic bentonite in dioctyl pht
halate, in monohydric aliphatic alcohols with a number of carbon atoms
ranging from 1 to 11, and in mixtures of dioctyl phthalate with ethan
ol; the heats of reaction of the components of these systems have also
been studied. The mechanism of the influence of polar substances adde
d on the dispersion of bentonite in esters (the dispersion medium of p
lastisols) has been described more precisely.
