Titanium dioxide hydrosols were synthesized by hydrolysis of titanium
tetraethoxide in the presence of nitric acid with heat treatment of bo
iling. Concentrated (up to 40 % by weight TiO2) hydrosols were produce
d by repeated dispersion of the xerogels isolated by drying the sol at
100-degrees-C. The sols contained crystalline TiO2 particles in the f
orm of a mixture of anatase and rutile with mean radius 17 nm. Thermal
analysis of the xerogels was performed.
