B. Garcia et al., ACTIVATION THERMODYNAMIC PARAMETERS OF BINARY-MIXTURES OF PROPIONIC-ACID AND O-SUBSTITUTED ANILINES, Journal of solution chemistry, 22(9), 1993, pp. 797-807
Variations of densities and viscosities with temperature and compositi
on are reported for binary liquid mixtures containing propionic acid aniline (I), + o-toluidine (II), + o-anisidine (III), and + o-chloroa
niline (IV). Entropies DELTAS(double-dagger)m and enthalpies DELTAH(do
uble-dagger)m of activation as functions of the composition of the mix
tures, as well as free energies of activation DELTAG(double-dagger)m a
t 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50-degrees-C and different compositions were cal
culated by means of Eyring's equation. The formation of activated comp
lexes between the components of these binary mixtures is postulated an
d claimed to result from acid-base and hydrogen bonding exchange inter
actions.
