L. Reichstadter et al., CONDUCTANCE OF TETRAALKYLAMMONIUM SALTS IN 2-BUTANONE FROM -45-DEGREES-C TO 25-DEGREES-C, Journal of solution chemistry, 22(9), 1993, pp. 809-823
Interactions of three types of tetraalkylammonium cations (tetrapropyl
-, tetrabutyl- and tri-isoamylbutyl- ammonium) with perchlorate and te
traphenylborate anions were studied by the conductivity method in 2-bu
tanone from -45-degrees-C to 25-degrees-C. Conductance data obtained f
or diluted solutions (5x10(-5) - 2x10(-3) mol-dm-3) were used to calcu
late the limiting molar conductivities and association constants. The
conductance equation of Fuoss-Hsia including the Chen term and the che
mical model assumption were applied. Limiting ion conductivities were
calculated assuming equal limiting conductivities of the i-Am3BuN+ and
BPh4- ions at all temperatures. Gibbs energies and entropies of ion p
air formation, calculated from the dependence of association constants
on temperature, are presented including the contributions due to shor
t-range forces.
