Sy. Sun et al., OPTIMIZATION IN CALCULATION OF SHELL-TUBE HEAT-EXCHANGER, International communications in heat and mass transfer, 20(5), 1993, pp. 675-685
Based on the energy conservation and the mass balance, a mathematical
simulation for the transient heat exchange of a shell tube heat exchan
ger is established, and a model for optimization of the heat exchanger
design is proposed in which the objective function is the total entro
py generation rate (TEGR), with consideration giving to both heat tran
sfer and flow resistance. The results of the optimization on the struc
ture size and the operating para-meters are searched for the shell-tub
e heat exchanger. The feasibility of the simulating method and the rel
iability of the optimizating results have been proved by experiments.
