Abstract
The cycloaddition of nitrones (4) to propene, followed by sequential t reatment with methyl trifluoromethanesulfonate, H-2-Pd/C, and m-chloro perbenzoic acid, is shown to provide a general method for the preparat ion of a variety of volatile streptomyces lactones.
