THE ACTIVITY OF THE L-GULONOLACTONE-OXIDA SE IN THE KIDNEY AND THE CONTENT OF ASCORBIC-ACID IN THE KIDNEY, IN THE LIVER AND IN THE PLASMA OF CHICKENS, DUCKS, GEESE AND QUAILS
A. Alawad et al., THE ACTIVITY OF THE L-GULONOLACTONE-OXIDA SE IN THE KIDNEY AND THE CONTENT OF ASCORBIC-ACID IN THE KIDNEY, IN THE LIVER AND IN THE PLASMA OF CHICKENS, DUCKS, GEESE AND QUAILS, Archiv fur Geflugelkunde, 57(4), 1993, pp. 185-189
At analyses of the supernatant of homogenates of the kidney for the ac
tivity of the L-gulonolactone-oxidase a high activity existed in 6 wee
ks old quails (value: 691 +/- 132) and in 8 weeks, old chickens (546 /- 88), a moderate high in 7 weeks old ducks (254 +/- 47) in 1 year ol
d hens (213 +/- 41) and in 1 year old ducks (172 +/- 60), and a low in
10 weeks old geese with the formation of 95 +/- 27 mug ascorbic acid
per g tissue in 60 minutes from L-gulonolactone. The highest content o
f ascorbic acid in the liver was determined in that of the chickens (5
20 +/- 31) and the lowest in that of the geese of 256 + 60 mug/g wet w
eight. The kidneys of the 7 weeks old ducks with a value of 269 +/- 39
hat the highest and that of the 1 year old ducks with a content of 17
3 +/- 29 mug/g wet weight the lowest content.
