Abstract
Neuroleptic-induced akathisia (NIA) is the most common form of extrapy ramidal symptoms (EPS). It is often refractory to treatment and its pr esence may preclude adequate trials of antipsychotics. Two patients, w ith other indications for bupropion (BUP) therapy, demonstrated modera te to severe NIA which responded dramatically to BUP. This improvement was sustained. These serendipitous observations require replication, but further study appears warranted. As BUP lowers the seizure thresho ld, additional studies must be undertaken with great caution.
