Abstract
The claim in a recent review by Muntzel and Drueke in the American Jou rnal of Hypertension (1992;5:1S - 42S) that a moderate restriction in sodium intake may result in health risks is not supported by the evide nce provided nor by any other in the literature. The adverse effects w hich are observed with severe sodium depletion are not relevant to the possible dangers of reducing sodium intake in humans to levels that a re attainable and feasible.
