A review of analytical methods based on the luminescence of terpositiv
e lanthanides in liquid phase for determination of these ions is prese
nted. On the basis of the published data and our own investigations th
e determination of Ln(III) ions in solutions with the conventional and
laser-induced spectrofluorimetry methods has been reviewed. The revie
w covers the spectrofluorimetric determination methods based on: the b
inary and ternary complex formation, intramolecular energy transfer, s
ystems with synergic agents and sensitized (by another lanthanide ion)
luminescence in the media under study. The method of determination of
contents of water in DMF and DMS based on luminescence lifetime measu
rements of Eu(III), introduced to the systems is also presented.
