Sudanonautes orthostylis Bott, 1955 a freshwater crab from West Africa
is redescribed exclusively from type material. The species is now rec
ognized by a combination of characters of the carapace, chelipeds, and
gonopods, which are illustrated. It is compared to other species of S
udanonautes Bott, 195 5, and to the other genera of freshwater crabs o
ccurring in West Africa. The species is restricted to the tropical rai
n forest zone of southwest Cameroon, West Africa.
