Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to examine how the payment or rec eipt of child support affected stepfamily adjustment. Other informatio n about changes in child support and child support compliance after re marriage was obtained. Data from 74 remarried individuals who were eit her paying or receiving child support were used. The results indicated that for those that reported changes in child support, payers reporte d paying more while receivers reported receiving less child support. V ery few variables differentiated those who received child support from those whose ex-spouse was noncompliant. Findings further showed that child support had no significant effect on stepfamily adjustment.
