Abstract
The outstanding noise and radiation hardness characteristics of epitax ial-channel junction field-effect transistors (JFET) suggest that a mo nolithic preamplifier based upon them may be able to meet the strict s pecifications for calorimetry at high luminosity colliders. Results ob tained so far with a buried layer planar technology, among them an ent ire monolithic charge-sensitive preamplifier, are described.
