We investigate pirho scattering in the pseudoscalar (pi) and axial-vec
tor (A1) channel. Our model based on s- as well as t-channel meson exc
hange can resolve apparent discrepancies occurring in the analysis of
the axial-vector A1 meson. Furthermore, it leads to an appreciable sof
tening of the piNN form factor in agreement with information from othe
r sources. This strong contribution in the pionic channel substantiate
s earlier claims that inclusion of correlated pirho exchange might all
ow the use of a soft piNN form factor in NN potential models and thus
could resolve a long-standing puzzle.
