A. Poisson et Mh. Gadhoumi, AN EXTENSION OF THE PRACTICAL SALINITY SCALE 1978 AND THE EQUATION OFSTATE 1980 TO HIGH SALINITIES, Deep-sea research. Part 1. Oceanographic research papers, 40(8), 1993, pp. 1689-1698
Weight-concentrated solutions of standard seawater P101 were used to m
easure conductivity ratio R(t) and density rho(S, t, 0) for salinity (
S) ranging from 35 to 50 and temperature (t) from 10 to 30-degrees-C.
These data were fitted into third degree polynomials in temperature an
d salinity that give the salinity with a precision of +/-3 x 10(-3) an
d the density with a precision of +/-4 x 10(-3) kg m-3, from 42 to 50
salinity and 10 to 30-degrees-C. These polynomials are proposed to ext
end the Practical Salinity Scale 1978 and the Equation of State 1980.
