The dielectric constant, loss tangent and AC conductivity of solution
grown cellulose acetate-butyrate films of 5 mum thickness were studied
as a function of temperature (300-450 K) in the frequency range 10 Hz
-10 MHz. The decrease in dielectric constant was observed with the inc
rease in frequency as well as with temperature. A loss peak was observ
ed in the dielectric loss spectra and was identified as the beta-relax
ation peak. The frequency-dependent conductivity was also studied. The
results were interpreted in terms of electronic conduction via hoppin
g processes.
