Abstract
Importance of near-net-shape casting for the production of flat produc ts. Suitability of the Conroll process for new plants on greenfield si tes and for subsequent installation in existing integrated iron and st eel works. Description of the plant technology of the Conroll process, especially of the continuous casting plant. of the mould. of the subm erged tube. of strand guiding and secondary cooling, of the descaling of the roller hearth furnace, of a roughing stand and the finishing mi ll. Steel grades produced hitherto by the new process as well as mecha nical-technological properties and surface quality of the hot and cold strips produced. Economic efficiency of the process, especially reduc tion of energy and labour costs.
