Abstract
In the present study, the densification behaviour of Ti-6Al-6V alloys containing up to 3 wt-% of tin was investigated after transient liquid phase sintering of the premix compacts. Both tin content and an incre ase in sintering temperature were found to enhance sinterability. Diff erent homogenizing treatments were used in order to develop uniform mi crostructures in such alloys. For the prealloyed Ti-6Al-4V powder, HIP ping above beta-transus temperature was carried out in order to get a fully dense alloy. Mechanical properties and the results of a microstr uctural study of HIPped as well as heat-treated alloys are reported.
