Partial suppression of lasing by intense stimulated Raman scattering o
f ethanol in a 10(-4) M Rhodamine 6G-doped ethanol droplet can be obse
rved at high input-laser intensity when the Raman signal overlaps with
the lasing spectrum. Extra stimulated emission of the Rhodamine 6G ca
used by stimulated Raman scattering of ethanol can saturate the Rhodam
ine 6G lasing gain to below threshold.
