For several phosphate glass systems composed of K2O, SrO, (La, Nd)2O3
and P2O5, different dehydration methods have been investigated: variat
ion of raw materials, addition of halides, sintering of raw material m
ixtures, remelting of glasses, variation of melting time, bubbling of
dry oxygen. The methods have been compared with each other concerning
their effect on decreasing the OH content. Further, a model of the int
eractions between glass melt and atmosphere has been established for g
lasses prepared using fluoride addition or not.
