Abstract
A new impeller design, with a constant drag coefficient and power cons umption, independent of fluid surroundings has been proposed. The adva ntages of such an impeller have been highlighted. Experimental results on power consumption behaviour in the presence and absence of gas hav e been presented in the turbulent regime. Force balance on impeller bl ade has been shown to explain the power consumption behaviour successf ully.
