Two new taxane epoxides were isolated from the bark of Taxus brevifoli
a and their structures were established as alpha,7beta,10beta,13alpha-
pentaacetoxy-tax-11-ene and pha,9alpha,10beta,13alpha-pentaacetoxy-tax
-11-ene. These two compounds were found to readily isomerize via acyl
migration upon standing in CDCl3 solution and represent the first exam
ple of intramolecular transesterification in this large family of taxa
ne metabolites.
