Thin films of a series of monomeric and polymeric metal phthalocyanine
s with different center atoms (cobalt and copper) were prepared on int
erdigitated capacitor or quartz microbalance devices. The coating was
performed rom solution followed by subsequent evaporation of the solve
nts. These devices have been tested for their use as NO2 resistance an
d mass sensitive sensors. Particularly high sensitivity, reversibility
and fast response times were obtained for nickel t-butyl phthalocyani
ne (Ni-btPc) at room temperature and for poly[cyano(cobalt tetracarbox
y phthalocyanine)] [(Co-taPcCN)n] at 100-degrees-C.
