VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) are substantially responsible for the
formation of photooxidants in the troposphere. They also contribute t
o the rise of ozone concentration and cause the so called summer smog.
While locating the VOC sources in refineries and in the distribution
of petroleum products, the various measures planned by the VOC-Commiss
ion of Baden-Wurttemberg to reduce such emissions have been explained.
