A simple technique has been applied to the development of a glucose se
nsor by entrapping the glucose oxidase into a polymer matrix deposited
on the surface of a platinum electrode by electropolymerization of N-
methylpyrrole in aqueous solutions containing enzyme, altion and tiron
. The new sensor is characterized with fast response time (about 30 s)
at high enough stability on storage and operation (> 45 days and > 30
measurements, respectively). In the presence of dioxygen, the electro
de current response changes linearly with glucose concentration within
the range 0.1-6 mM and does not reach any limit even at 15 mM. The ro
le of altion and tiron in electropolymerization and glucose determinat
ion is discussed.
