EXPRESSION OF ONCOGENE V-SRC IN ESCHERICHIA-COLI ENHANCES CELL-GROWTHAND RESULTS IN PHOSPHORYLATION OF CELL-PROTEINS

A study was made of the possible influence of the expression of tyrosi ne-specific protein kinase activity of the v-src oncoprotein on Escher ichia coli cells. This was shown to result in tyrosine phosphorylation in a number of additional E. coli proteins, and to accelerate DNA syn thesis with ensuing more active proliferation of the cells carrying th e v-src plasmid.
