E. Marchezan et al., RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOWING TIME, HARVEST ING TIME AND MILLING QUALITY ON HEAD RICE GRAINS OF RICE CULTIVARS, Pesquisa agropecuaria brasileira, 28(7), 1993, pp. 843-848
The purpose of the research was to relate the sowing to the harvesting
time of three paddy rice cultivars, to obtain moisture range of grain
s that produce the best milling quality at harvest. The cultivars IAC-
4440, PESAGRO-104 and CNA-3771 were used. Each cultivar was sown four
times during the recommended sowing time in the Sao Paulo region, from
10/04 to 12/09/1988. Harvesting took place each five days. It started
25 days and went on until 55 days after full heading. It has been con
cluded from results obtained that the harvesting time that produces be
tter head rice grains depends more on the content misture then on the
sowing time. The moisture content obtaining better head rice grain qua
lity at harvest is between 20 - 25% at 30 - 40 days after full heading
.
